This came about from another of my unplanned computer drawn pictures, and took an “Italian fantasy” turn. Having copied the drawing using my preferred black gel ink pen, I used shades of blue watercolour paint, to create a dream-like, cold, but enticing and fairy tale-ish city. Being inspired by Italian cities, metallic areas were going to be an indulgence!
Enter the “Sapphire City” along the paths paved with gold and silver; choose the correct tunnel to the treasures beyond. Gaze up in awe at the high fortresses, perhaps guarding the King or Emperor. I believe there are grottos deep inside behind the walls, where your wishes can be granted, or once through the façade, it could be that you will never find your way out from this shining jewel of a city, and be trapped forever in a shimmering parallel Italian universe!
