I have always loved impressionism. The use of color and brush strokes to vividly portray the landscape. The way the color and shadows can give the eye the hint of what is there and let the brain complete what the eye has hinted toward.
I am most moved by the American Impressionism of the 1800-1900's. The works of Hassam, Twachtman, Cassatt, and my all time favorite John Singer Sargent. I strive to move away from the realism of the setting and move it toward a piece that everyone, though seeing the same thing, will see it differently.
House on the Hill was painted using artist quality acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped canvas.
