I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I started painting in the sixth grade and never stopped. My primary interest (currently) is landscape painting and jewelry, though I also paint abstracts to keep my color and composition fresh. I love to experiment with color. Some of my favorite artists are Turner, Rothko, Monet, Durer, Mondrain, Pollock, Caravaggio, Von Gogh, etc., etc., etc..
My major in college was Fine Arts, with a studio major in painting and drawing and a minor in Art History. Those were the most stimulating years! I hope to regain some of that inspiration through my friends at EBSQ!
Missouri is a garden of eden for landscape painters; the hundreds of rivers, the Ozark mountains, the old, deciduous forests are a wealth of inspiration. It was said in frontier days that a man could ride his horse from Saint Louis to Kansas City and never see the sun, the forests were so thick. I love to capture on canvas that mystical realm found in the deep woods along the rushing creek beds. You can almost see the forest sprites dancing in the glens. I guess it's the Irish in me.
When I paint I feel closest to God, (Allah, Yahweh, what-ever you call your higher-power). In the act of creation we are all a little godly. But God is the greatest artist of all!
