Media:  acrylic on canvas
Dimensions:  73"x41"
Date of Work:  1985

Deep emotions rooted in my childhood prompted me to create this piece. I was doing very few representational paintings at the time, but I felt the figures were necessary to convey my meaning. The trauma of sexual abuse will always be with us unfortunately, but I hope people will become better equipped emotionally to deal with it. This work includes many symbolic elements which I am not going to spell out here. Viewers can decide on their own interpretation. This was painted fairly quickly with no underdrawing.

I chose this piece for the Think Pink show because it was... pink. The figures introduce a human element that is particularly suited to this show. I wanted to enter the show to support the fight against breast cancer, which concerns everyone.

Private collection.
