This piece is loosely adapted from a photograph I took of my pond a couple of summers ago. In the desert, lily pads get beat up by the sun and heat, resulting in prematurely yellowed leaves like the one at top. I have several waterlily photos, but liked the composition of this one. It looked like something I could have fun with, playing with shapes and colors.
The canvas is gallery wrapped and the edges are painted with the darkest green in the painting.
