The book One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish is one of Dr Seuss's simplest and one I love to read with my granddaughters. This painting is my entry in the Dr. Seuss show and is a companion piece to my waterlily painting. After deciding which Seuss book I was going to work with, I chose koi as a starting point because I am familiar with them. Then I concentrated on feel, form and color rather than an exact rendering of the species.
