I am a fan of so many different kinds of music that I had to explore several of them along the course of this painting. I chose the extreme horizontal format to illustrate the progression and rhythm of music, from bright to soft and back again. Some shapes evoke musical elements and instruments; they just happened.

I let my brushes wander freely on the canvas as the music washed over me. I worked on this for several days over a period of a few weeks, listening to Coldplay, Springsteen, Dave Brubeck, Dylan and a few others.
