Media:  digital photography
Dimensions:  8x10"
Date of Work:  2002

This candid shot of my granddaughter skipping on the beach conveys the feel of Southern California in the cooler months. The mood is a lot more mellow and subdued than in summer.

The palm trees in the distance anchor the image and provide a static contrast to the child's movement. I like the blurriness in her hands and her quiet joy.

This is a digital shot taken with a Kodak 3600 2.2 MP camera. I desaturated the image to get to black and white and simplified the tree line slightly.
