This butterfly was inspired by the work of Irina Charny who teaches at Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland and is dedicated to my heart's inspiration, a llittle girl named, "Maya ". It is composed of mixed glass on plywood and is comprised of glass that I cut myself as well as mirrors and glass mosaic gems. I chose this subject because the butterfly represents a child in my life who has blossomed into a graceful work of beauty, intelligence and freedom.
