This painting was inspired by one particular story my mother use to tell me when I
was little. She use to explain the magic that water contains, so much so that a
goddesses can be born from it. As a child I constantly had visuals of goddesses
rising up from water and finally decided to put it on canvas.
The symbols on her gown are:
Sankofa (African) Symbol of importance of learning from the past.
Bese Saka (African) symbol of affluence, power, abundance, plenty, togetherness
and unity.
Ankh (Egyptian) Symbol of eternal life.
Udjat (Egyptian) The sound eye of Horus. Symbolizes healing and protection.
Peace (American) Symbol of tranquility. Freedom from disquieting or oppressive
thoughts or emotions.
Heart/Love (Universal) Symbol of strong amourous affection and warm attachment.
