As a child growing up, I have always
had an interest in painting and drawing and enjoyed sharing this interest with my family, especially
with my older sister Chris, an artist herself. This interest in art was further inspired by my
grandfather, Samuel Allegro who was a self-taught artist who would always entertain my sister
and I with drawings of the most magnificent portraits and caricatures. Pop-pop Sam was also
known for his beautiful pastel drawings of landscapes, still life, and family & friend portraits.
Later in High School and College I learned about my great-grandfather, Michael Vogel, an artist too,
who traveled the streets of Highlandtown, MD with the renowned artist William Octavec painting
screens. Together they started the folk art of Baltimore Screen Paintings back in the early 1900s.
I graduated with a BA in Digital & Imaging Arts at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Since graduating, I have had over 7 years experience in creating Commercial and
Government/Military computer graphics, animations, and training programs.
I am a firm believer that the key to being a successful digital artist stems from an artists' strong
foundation in their traditional art studies. I enjoy using Traditional and Digital art approaches to
compliment many creations of art. Each particular artwork's mood and gesturing determines
whether to use a digital Art method, a Traditional Art method or both. With the use of a versatile
supply of art mediums, tools and art vocabulary, my main objective is to bring to life creative ideas
through design and visual means.
