I chose to rip off Renie Britenbucher.
I enjoy the clarity of shape and fun of Renie's work. I hoped to incorporate her qualities of play and whimsy into my own work. I wanted to emulate her clean, clear shapes. I found this a wonderful fun and challenging exercise. For me, painting like another person was quite difficult. Since I am not Renie, I can not paint like Renie. Entering this process forced me to break my patterns and discover a new creative territory.
The painting done is not so much a replica of a particular painting of Renie's, but rather, it is my attempting to recapitulate the lessons I have learned from Renie's work.
The first work is mine and the following two, Renie's.
