The Truth ~ Contemplation to Artemis
Thank you for coming to see my newest collage. This is a full size 12 x 12 inch scrapbook frame made of white metal and glass. There is a hand fired color parchment print of Artemis, art created in 2005, and my poem beside it. This poem will be in the "Whispers of the Goddess" book as well, and this is a great piece to inspire those who need to follow their truth and block out those chattering of what everyone else thinks.
As I sat with my art in piles, trying to see which one was ready to be shared and I was thinking over my morning walk and quickly recalled that a deer crossed my path! I literally crossed paths with a deer who came out of a marshland and out into the neighborhood I was in - right in front of us.
So it only made sense for me to chose her...Artemis, the goddess of the moon, fertility and childbirth. She is the sister of the sun god Apollo. Her sacred animal is the deer and the cypress tree is also a symbol of hers.
Now, this is interesting to me, because I searched for facts about Artemis, and discovered that cypress trees favor locations with poor soil, wind and salt, and they are often found along shorelines. This is where I was when I saw the deer, so naturally I am going to conclude that Artemis has shown up, to help me focus, once again.
Artemis is a Greek goddess and was traditionally celebrated in Athens as well as Delos, her birthplace. Artemis was traditionally celebrated in Athens as well as Delos, her birthplace. However, her most incredible temple is located in Turkey. The Temple of Artemis is located in Ephesus, which is in the western part of the country. The temple is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. In fact, there were a number of temples venerating Artemis built on the same site. In 1904, an excavation of the site lead by the British museum identified evidence of at least five temples there.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for viewing my art!
