Phantom Soules was created after several walking journeys through local cemetaries around my home. One of the stones of a departed soul had this name "Soules" on it, and it struck me that I would use it for a poem or a painting, possibly both. I was prompted to draw this after a particularly tumultuous episode or two, that also made me realize that some things needed to die if they were to be reborn. A classic Scorpio trait. Since my birthday is November 8th, and the winter is now upon us here in New England, this drawing has much to do with the need for rebirth. I created the four female subjects as one entirely alive and rotating through until death, with alot of imagery leading to clues with what was going on, and what is still going on.
