How long have you been creating?

My earliest memory of being creative goes back to the time when my parents allowed me to use the walls of our apartment in Poland to paint wild and crazy murals at age of 9-10. After that, art has been in my life on the regular basis, with its ups and downs, for about 25 years.

What is your media of choice?

Although I love to paint with oil paints, I like to try different media to find a right vehicle for my ideas.

What are you motivations for creating?

A need for self-expression, a want for social commentary, and a desire to learn.

What other artists or movements inform your work?

William Morris and his beautiful pattern designs, Egon Schiele and his raw sketches of human figure, Romare Bearden and his rich collages, and Masters of Northern Renaissance.

What do you find visually stimulating right now?

Fabric patterns, human body against rich fabrics and memorable scary dreams.

What's the last book you read?

"Art & Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking" by David Bayles & Ted Orland. I highly recommend this book to all artists, especially those who face doubts about their artwork.

Tell us about some of your artistic goals for 2006.

The most important thing for this year is to keep on creating my work. With a full time job as an art teacher, it’s sometimes quite challenging, but not impossible, to find time and will to do my artwork In order to be an excellent teacher, I need to be a life-long student of art.

What would you like your fellow EBSQ artists and our collectors to know about you and/or your work?

My artwork reflects who I am and what is important to me as a person. Take a look at my work and you will know who I am and what I stand for.
