When it comes to writing personal and artistic statements, or even reading them for that matter, I usually lose my focus after two sentences... Don't you?

Don't take me wrong now, I love to read and write, but for some reason most of these statements are removed from the reality of life and their lack of fleshy substance fail to deliver important information about the artist and what s/he stands for.

In order to avoid self-perpetual hypocrysy, I will state my position as an artist in 5 quick statements:

  1. WHO AM I ? A thirty something white middle class American woman of European descent, living in Fayetteville, North Carolina, trying to do something with my life that will be worth mentioning to my future generations.
  2. WHAT DO I STAND FOR ? Being alive, doing things and going places. I love strong opinions and raving debates. I hate lukewarm tendencies and empty monologues.
  3. WHAT AM I SAYING ABOUT THE WORLD WITH MY ARTWORK? The world is beautiful and terrifying place full of happenings, events and conditions that require bold statements and strong commentary.
  4. WHAT ARE MY GREATEST DREAMS AS AN ARTIST ? To run a successful art business, to become a creative teacher and to never forget learning.
  5. WHAT ARE MY GREATEST FEARS AS AN ARTIST ? Complacency, Mediocracy and Sloth.

THERE ARE 6 THEMES IN MY ARTWORK:

  • Social & Political Commentaries,
  • Spiritual & Master Series,
  • Personal Documentaries & Exercises,

AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND A VARIETY OF MEDIA:

  • oil paint, acrylics,
  • pen-and-ink, pencil, charcoal,
  • paper collage, mixed media,
  • clay, photography, computer art...

whatever suits the subject matter and my artistic sensibilites...

Recently, I have opened GALATEA BODY CASTING STUDIO, an art casting business with a good friend, Tina Flores, and since it's a partnership, I don't want to present any photos of our work here, but if you are interested, check us out at www.galateacasting.com
