This is my first collage/assemblage done in 1988. It’s been in storage for quite some time and I just recently unpacked it. I think it’s time to find it a new home. The theme of this piece is war. I used Xerox copies of large clouds to suggest fallout from large explosions, wood from a discarded campaign sign, found bullet shells, carved wood with skeletons drawn on to represent the whole bullet/shell/bomb & more carved wood for the figures along the bottom & painted with acrylics. I don’t consider this a commentary on any war in particular but more of a lack of understanding about why humanity has to continue to war with itself. This piece measures 14 ½ x 10”. It is behind glass, but if one would prefer to display it without the glass the frame can be taken off by removing the brass screws on the sides, taking out the glass and replacing the frame. Ready to hang. Collage &/or assemblage has been an area I’ve long wanted to explore and it’s taken me this long to get back around to it.
