Howlite Box Open

Media:  mixed media
Dimensions:  5 x 5 x 8 1/2"

This is a small piece I made several years ago. It's constructed of 1/2 poplar wood and embellished with shaped wood moldings, modeling paste and acrylic paint. The inside is lined in a matching blue suede board. The title gets its name from the Howlite stone donuts attached to each side. Howlite is an opaque white stone with blue-grey veining. This piece is done in a rough somewhat primitive manner with a very definite texture. I've been building mixed-media boxes for over 10 years now and they vary in design. Most of the pieces I make are one-of-a-kind but there are a few that I'm able to repeat. Although I may make more than one with the same basic design they all are uniquely made and no two are ever exactly alike. To see more of my work, visit my porfolio at EBSQART or visit my about me page for a direct link to my personal website, MadRat studio. I'm always happy to provide more information or photos if needed.
