I am a mixed media artist living in central Maryland. My renegade art "career" started at age three when I cut hunks from the middle of a large quantity of my mother's fabric collection -- she's an accomplished seamstress and quilter -- the textiles just seemed more liberated and artistically pleasing that way, I suppose....
I received my BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (metalsmithing/jewelry design) in 1995 and then proceeded to stop making art for awhile. No offense to formal education but I think art school ruined the creative process for me. I finally came to my senses and for the past few years I have been making collages, assemblages and various other expressions of altered art.
I still make some jewelry, mostly on commission, and occasionally for myself when the urge strikes. As I develop a new body of work, I hope to more fully integrate my mixed media work with my jewelry designs.
