$845.00 Original oil on linen with a wide black leather-look and gold bead frame.
This oil painting is number 6 in my "Western Treasures" series, called "Nursery Rhymes". When planning the painting, I was thinking about the way foals in a herd will congregate in play and learning together. To me, the wild horse is a unique treasure of the Americas like the rich fossil beds that tell of the long history of horses living in North America. The painting is a statement piece about the status of the mustang in America- a cherished symbol of freedom to many Americans and faithful, indispensible partner in the conquest of the Americas, the mustang is a returned native son as the fossil record proves, and, in my opinion, should be accorded the rights of native wildlife, if not by birthright, then as earned right as co-conqueror of the new world. This is a 20x20 oil on linen and was painted with distinctive brushwork and fine detail.
