Sculpted Piece Before Painting....

Media:  Papier Mache Bas Relief Sculpture
Dimensions:  9 x 12
Date of Work:  2008

While browsing through Loredana Mariotto's portfolio for a piece to RIP for this show, I was immediately drawn to her sweet little painting: "Robin Bird in the Snow". Living in Midwest American, I often see robins that have arrived a little too early in their migration North, and forced to sustain some nasty transitional wintry weather before Spring officially arrives. But I'm always thrilled to see the robins when they show up around here -- a sure sign that Ol' Man Winter can't hold out too terribly much longer....

My entry is painted, bas relief-style sculpted papier mache -- all one piece, with an incorporated, built-in frame. It may be difficult to discern from the flat photo that the piece actually has a significant amount of texture (note that the robin actually projects out quite a lot)....
