Behold the 'Horse Hat', guaranteed to make quite the fashion statement at your next formal soiree...

Designed upon private commission to fit snugly and securely on the head (while remaining comfortably lightweight), these horse head "hats" were hand sculpted with care from nearly 100% discarded newspaper, a material I can procure in vast quantities for the asking from family and friends....

Living in our consumerist society, I'm feeling ever more strongly about the environment and our stewardship as inhabitants within it. It seems to me there is already an alarming amount of 'Stuff' floating about in the world without me or my family contributing to the problem by way of superfluous or expendable purchasing. As such, I am continuing my attempts at maintaining responsible conscious awareness when making consumer decisions, while gently influencing my children to follow along the same path. As an artist, I am finding myself increasingly drawn to the concept of creating objects of beauty and usefulness from what could be considered 'trash' -- disposable materials that may otherwise find their way as refuse into our nation's overflowing landfills. For this reason among many, the time-honored art of papier mache has become a truly satisfying medium for me, and the infinite opportunities it offers to create literally "something from nothing".....
