Every new year brings a chance to renew, refresh, and try something new. Speaking solely as an artist, I see this year as a great time to flex my creative muscles, look at my work from a new perspective, and take my style to new places. Having said that, I am so very excited about this piece! My subject matter will always stay the same (the human figure fascinates me), but I am experimenting with new approaches to that subject that challenge me on a technical level. I love the slight abstraction and elongation of this portrait, and the rich, deep color. The face is very pensive, with a deep stare and sharp features. The gingko leaves, well they are just extremely fun to paint! I love the shape and color, and although it's not evident in the pictures, there is some subtle veining in the leaves from a palette knife that adds more texture and visual interest. I hope you like it, and thanks for looking!
This piece is done on a 22x28 gallery wrap canvas, is strung and ready to hang. A certificate of authenticity will accompany your purchase.
