This piece is reminiscent of Modern Art of the early 20th century. The figure is of a female bather, (very French) and has gentle mass, weight, and definition. There is obvious elongation and slight abstraction of the form, which gives it a very fresh, light feeling. I love the color combinations- the red of the hair is complemented by the creamy, pale violet blue background, and the brushwork is very loose and carefree. A glazing technique was used for the body which gives a very transluscent effect, and the hair and towel were painted with a more loose, opaque touch. There is also a very "sketchy", graceful linear quality due to the outlines placed around the figure. The lines sketched into the towel also serve to create definition and movement. A very feminine piece. This painting is a gallery wrap, no need to frame. It is strung and ready to hang. A certificate of authenticity will accompany your purchase. Thanks fo looking!
