This is a very emotional piece, and a bit of a departure from my usual approach. This is a heavily textured canvas primed black, which causes the figure to emerge from the canvas. In many areas of the piece, some of the paint is scraped off, revealing the black underpainting. The result is a very dimensional, mysterious, atmospheric piece.
