Perhaps I watch too much science fiction last thing at night, or maybe it's too much cheese at bedtime but whatever the reason I often have dreams about travelling at high speed through multi-coloured and scintillating tunnels with a bright and glorious light shining ahead.
This painting is a representation of those dreams and is painted entirely using a palette knife. The central core of the tunnel was painted in three stages with masking tape helping me to achieve the sharp edges whilst the tunnel walls are painted with long sweeping strokes of the knife to impart the energy I dream about.
The canvas is 24" x 24" and was completed in 2005.
