In a private collection, England.

Approximately 5 x 7 inches, Arches CP paper, this watercolour was painted with WN and DS artist quality paint.

The mauve shades of hydrangeas always appeals to me - the colours always stir something inside. It's a very calming and peaceful 'colour' to me. Anymore, I don't "see" colours the same as I used to - I "feel" them as effects. Macro sections of florals are one of my favourte things to paint.

This painting took hours to complete each petal separately as I attempted to re-create the shades of purples and mauves that ranged from the shadows to the lights. I plan on re-creating the same painting on a full sheet of paper.
