Come
check out the Digital Underwear Society and watch as we flagrantly ride
through polite society in our underwear, flashing art.
While some schools of thought prefer boxers or briefs, other schools still
argue about strapless or sport. We maintain, that in our underwear, regardless
of type, style or cut, we are one, united in truth, honesty, and in need
of a real tan.
|
The
Digital Underwear Society is a small number of independent digital artists
who have never met face to face. We all met online as members of an art
site called EBSQ (www.ebsqart.com), which champions self-representing
artists. It is within that network and support system that we plan and
execute our digital collaborations based on the surrealist game of the
1920's and 30's called "Exquisite Corpse".
Exquisite
Corpse:
"Game of folded paper that consists in having a sentence
or a drawing composed by several persons, each ignorant of the preceding
collaboration...[eg]..."the exquisite/corpse/will drink/the new/wine"
--excerpt from the 1939 Abridged Dictionary of Surrealism, as copied
off the wall at the Art Institute of Chicago. |
We
use the computer and digital imaging programs, in place of folded paper,
to create our Synergy Corpses, which are the digital electronic equivalent
to word or paper corpses.
This art is based on an accidental or unconscious collaboration of at
least four artists, each of whom has no idea as to what has gone before.
Thereby, we create a single, unified and otherwise unexpected work of
art that could not be created in any other way.
