ART STATEMENT:
I am an artist who
draws and paints spirits and dreams.
They find me and flow through
my hands onto material surfaces.....
usually canvas, paper, or wood.
These spirits and/or dreams
take different forms.
Sometimes they take the form of some kind of being,
say a mermaid, a sprite, or a dancer;
sometimes they take the form of a "place"---
a landscape in my mind;
other times there is a vision
of an entire diorama with characters and
activities that appear from
the river of my subconscious.
Often I'm quite surprised at what emerges,
though often it's a pleasant surprise.
Metaphysics, metaphors, archetypes, and
universal symbols fascinate me.
They are threaded throughout all my work.

MATERIALS and Media:
I use whatever materials do the job for me.
The art itself decides what it wants
and I go along for the ride.
The media I use are mostly
acrylic, ink, various kinds of
watercolor and pencils;
however, I also do oil paintings,
and like to mix my media;
so I also use glitter, sequins, fabric, metal, and more!
I never tire of experimenting!
My preferred supports are
paper, canvas, and wood;
though I also use glass,
and love scratchboard.
Sometimes I take a notion to
paint furniture, clothing,
or some other utilitarian surface.
In order to create harmony and to simplify,
I use a limited palette.
It usually consists of yellow, red (magenta),
blue (cyan), and white.
I frequently add black or other colors depending
on what tone I want to create.
I use purple as if it were a primary,
rather than secondary, color.

BIO:
I was a nosy little kid.
Couldn't keep my hands off things.
The poor lady at the "dime store"
was just sure I would pilfer
whatever it was I was fondling
with my grimy little hands.
She'd just as soon run me, with my
tow-headed little siblings and cousins, off
as to sell us a nickle's worth of candy each.
All that touching and handling helped me to
train my eyes and hands
to work in sync with each other.
Not only did I touch everything but
I looked at things from the inside out......
...down into the bottom and all the in-betweens.
I didn't know I was doing such a thing
until later when I analyzed my mind's visions.
Over time I developed drawing skills.
I studied painting and art history.
I learned to play musical instruments.
