Having discovered the Hawaiian island of Lana'i through a family vacation, and ready to start a new path in life, Jordanne Weinstein stayed on the small island with one packed bag. In the landscapes and geography of Lana'i, she found artistic inspiration. Since childhood, she has felt a constant fascination with art and the mysterious ways of the world. Born and raised in New York, she studied at The College of Saint Rose, one of the top ten nationally accredited schools for graphic design and was accepted as an intern with WBMG- Walter Bernard (former art director of Time Magazine and Milton Glaser (an icon of american Graphic Design and the creator of the 'I Love NY' logo.) She then prolonged her graduation to study in Florence, Italy under the world renowned Maestro Silvano Campeggi, the illustrator of movie posters such as Ben Hur, Casablanca, GIGI, and Gone With The Wind. Jordanne graduated with a BFA in Grapic Design and continued with jobs in the design field.
In Lana'i, Jordanne has found the perfect place to pursue her fine arts career. This small island offers wonder, dramatic light, varied terrain and aloha spirit. Jordanne creates using oil, acrylic paint and a gloss medium, as well as watercolor. She incorporates gold leaf, hand-made paper, fabric, and other textured objects to add dimension. Jordanne works freehand, a painting technique which brings newness and spontaneity to her work; what she sees comes out directly onto the canvas or wooden plaque. Jordanne's work explores the crevices and open spaces of Lana'i, recording their unique manifestation.
Jordanne hopes to extend to the viewer a captured moment of the beauty and specialness of the Hawaiian island of Lana'i.
