I started this painting in the spring of 2005. I felt compelled to paint something large so I went out and purchased a large gallery wrap canvas and some acrylic paint and began painting. I spent a few hours and put it down. This went on for a week and then I had other things come up. A year went by. During that time I moved and my half finished piece moved with me. Two years later on a snowy spring day I started up again. And then other things came up. Finally in the late spring of 2008 I decided it was time to end the journey and finish the piece once and for all. I spent 2 weeks on it working during lunch breaks and on weekends and finally finished the piece in time for a solo exhibition in July.
I learned a valuable lesson about creative process during this time. According to wikipedia.org: "Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely." I gave the painting this title because I was looking for a "quick fix", a desire to satisfy a creative impulse. Instead, I ended up on a journey of revisions and rethinking until I came to a final conclusion.
