Pastel is one of the most permanent mediums when properly matted & framed.

Media:  Pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes
Dimensions:  6" x 4"
Date of Work:  March ~ 2007

Everybody loves Chickadees! They are too adorable and about 50 eBay artists are displaying paintings up of them now. This is as original pastel painting of my widow box of pansies with a Chickadee that often visited our decorative water fountain. This painting meetings the requirements to be included in the Original Small Works Of Art (OSWOA™) movement as it measures 6" x 4" and is an original work - one of a kind. This painting is executed in pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper. Pastel paintings are known for their vibrancy and color permanence. Pastels that are 200 years old are still bright and colorful as the pigment does not fade. The pastel particles capture the light as no other medium. My pastel paintings are done with the highest quality pastels. Professional grade pastels are NOT CHALK. They are made with the same pigments as other mediums held together in a stick form by a resin. Many master painters of the past used pastels that we enjoy today such as Leonardo Da Vinci. Edgar Degas is known for his pastels of ballerinas.
