I've been creating ever since I found out how to make a mudpie as a kid. I wasn't terribly interested in those dingy Barbie-things...I always got bored, gave them bad haircuts, then dug out my old Spirograph and went to work making "swirlies."

As I got older and was forced to think about how the heck I was ever going to earn some money, I never could decide among writing, art or psychology. So, when I got to college, so I chose an assemblage of all three--advertising. I loved the components, but not the empty feelings it left.

Eventually I decided to follow my heart and "do what you love and the money will follow" (I bought that book but never got past the cover, but do you need to?). Therefore, the inevitable has happened. I have become one of those poor, wandering perpetual students--taking intensive workshops at respected arts and crafts schools, learning on my own and trying to earn a master's in clinical social work while working in marketing and as an editor in communications. Mostly, I am a student of life.

My work reflects life, my very odd sense of humor, humanity, relationships with people, relationships to the earth and other living things, the incredible love I have for animals, connectedness and the dumbfounding awe I have at the complexities of being human.

My main areas of work are:

  • art dolls
  • handmade felt
  • whimsical painting

I am a member of the Foothills Craft Guild, Tennessee Association of Craft Artists and other area art organizations here in East Tennessee.
