My 1st foray into oils this is a 9 x 12 nude painting of Alice in Wonderland. The character and world created by Lewis Carroll inspired this painting as well as one of my all time favourite artists Mark Ryden. Motivated by his depiction of Snow White I was inspired to make my own rendition with this theme. Edouard Manet in turn inspired Mr. Ryden and the wheel turns...

The white rabbit seems a little shocked by Alice’s appearance, and the two flower women just seem perturbed that Alice is a strong enough woman to show herself to the world. The Bread and Butterflies just wander through the skies enjoying the day.
