Another “Big Eyed” piece from Internationally selling Canadian artist Noelle Hunt.

This is piece I created for the "Orange Show" which is being held in Oct 2005. The exercise for me in this case was to try an interpret one of my Kitschy Big Eyed girls using only shades of orange, or colours blended with orange. It was an interesting exercise and allowed me to expand my ideas about the use of monochromatic colour schemes.

The Devil girl is a reoccurring symbol in my artwork, as are the various dogs that appear with her. Is there significance to her appearance? Well in the larger sense, no, she is merely another imp who lives in my brain and demands to be let out every so often. However she does appeal to the many ideas I have about the female form, sometimes, as in this case she is quite child like, while other times she becomes a Buxom vixen. Having fought daemons of eating disorders all my life “Devil girl” is both sides of my battle. Sometimes perfect as a woman, sometimes perfect as a child but always with a playfulness and slightly shocking attitude.

One reviewer wrote, "Ms. Hunt's style can best be described as, nouveau retro." I am inspired by all things kitsch: pin up girls, big-eyed children, pity puppies and tiki bars. These vintage things inspire my work, go through my mental filter and emerge, reshaped in a modern style. It reflects not only my inspiration but also my personality...delightfully unpretentious.

Why the dogs? I like dogs.

Humour is the most important element in any of my art
