A beautiful red lily is washed with sunlight and provides a resting place for a bug.

The lily and the leaves were beautiful enough but a bug too!?! And that one strand of a spider web!?! I had to paint this! One of the things I love about painting the things I choose to paint is that I must see them differently if I am to capture them on canvas. With only a quick glance this is a pretty orange lily but given attention there are so many more colors there! I end up being very glad sometimes that it takes me so long to complete a painting. I get to spend all that time really enjoying the colors and texture, shadows and light. That's quite a reward for my work.
