This "weed" appeared in my garden and is a delightful ground cover. At a garden center where I was trying to get more I was told that it was a "pernicious weed" - it is, I recently learned, "native violet". The fungus just "blossomed". They appeared and disappeared within just a few short days. I was so pleased to have one of those days be sunny.
