Even in decay Nature creates great beauty.

This log and fungus amazed me. The fungus seemed so delicate, almost like porcelain, transluscent and mysterious. The colors on this decaying log were incredible and a pleasure to paint. The knot on the log reminded me of an art class I had ages ago where our teacher assigned us the project of drawing a tree. I recall struggling to get the bark right and asked him how do you draw bark. He replied, "That's the problem, isn't it?" I think he might agree that I am slowly unraveling that problem.
