This is a portrait of the lovely Lauren, inspired by her wonderful recent paintings, "Bunny Girl" and "I Hear Lamb Tastes Like Chicken". Lauren's skill with a paintbrush is inspiring, and her work is both skillful, "serious" and delightfully humorous-an unexpected and not common combination! In this piece, I wanted to depict Lauren as the wise queen/leader archetype, which is typical of my own figural work, (female figures calling up feminine archetypes). In homage to Lauren's recent work, I attempted to add a touch of the unexpected, whimsical, and humorous.
