I am a self taught painter born in 1970 in St. Louis where I currently make my home. Although my work is often cathartic and autobiographical, I like to think it transcends the artist and reaches an audience who is moved on a personal level. Between the actual painting surfaces which are often found objects, the imagery and the title I hope to challenge the viewer to unlock each painting's meaning. An invitation to journey inward and ponder your own paths or deeper universal truths.

I'm fascinated by the ethereal and subterranean. I often create simply to keep myself grounded. To maintain some balance between light and heavy. It feels like purely selfish reasons. But when someone writes to tell me they were moved to tears by my art or that a certain painting gave them a sense of serenity or empowerment I feel less selfish and more a part of a larger consciousness. Connected even in a self perceived isolation. I'm elated when this happens. Elation as motivation. Definitely.
