Media:  Acrylic on masonite
Dimensions:  9" x 12"
Date of Work:  2003

This is an original acrylic painting on masonite. It has been signed and dated and is varnished for protection. It is mounted on wood, wired and ready to hang. This is the Safeway in downtown Sacramento at Alhambra and K Street. The water tower is a Sacramento landmark. As of 2005 the water tower is now adorned with a large light up sculpture. This store sits where the Alhambra Theatre used to be, and there are some remains of it left near the parking lot. Safeway has been painted and "updated" with a Starbucks to keep up with new style developments. This view is from the car while driving down K Street. We are stopped at the stoplight about to cross Alhambra and enter the parking lot. I love the normal everyday cityscapes that we all take for granted. I am glad I captured it before it changed, the worn urban look of cement, asphalt, and our signature palm trees.
