In Arthurian Legend, Morgan Le Fay played many roles. As Morgan of the Shades, she accompanied the souls of the dearly departed. She was even likened to the Three Fates, or moirae, of Greek mythology. They decided the fates of both men and Gods by weaving the threads of their destinies. Clothos spun the web of life, Lachesis measured its length, and Atropos cut it. When Morgan Le Fay watched over the wounded Arthur as the boat carried him back to Avalon, she had his life in her hands. Will she choose to cut Arthur’s life thread on this night?

I have always been intrigued by the more underrated aspects of Morgan in Arthurian legend such as her ties to the Three Fates. To decide the fate of men and gods alike is no small feat! I was inspired by my gorgeous friend and fellow fantasy artist Delphine Lévesque Demers to finally conjure up a little Morgan as an Underworld figure! Delphine is the face of the three fates for this piece. The painting was done in acrylics on canvas. It is one of my largest and best paintings to date! XOXO!!
