The photo of this painting might be slightly cropped at the top of the frame by my scanner.

In this quick and relatively loose study, I feel I am getting closer to the feeling I eventually want to impart with the roses.

I mean to take it much further, but this painting is a start in the direction I want to go in with regard to painting the flowers.
