*** Robyn's artist biography was selected for inclusion in Marquis "Who's Who in American Women" for the 2006 and 2007 editions.***
Robyn Henzel - was born in New York City and grew up in Rockaway Beach, New York. She paints in New York City and in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks.
Robyn has been creating since childhood. She started drawing her "ladies" in the margins of her notebooks at school, sometimes not even hearing what the teacher was saying. She began approaching larger scale works by drawing on the back of brown paper bags from the supermarket and one of the drawings done in High School ended up at a show at Lever House Gallery in New York City and took an award.
The artist received a Bachelor of Arts from Baruch College, City University of New York, where she was awarded the Wollman Medal for Political Science and received her Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York. Ms. Henzel is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Returning to New York City after extensive international traveling, the artist went on to study and receive Certification in Software Development and Design at Columbia University's Computer Technology and Applications Program. Today, Ms. Henzel remains fascinated by the intersection of technology and art, human and machine, primitive and tribal as these qualities intersect with impersonal and sterile modern life.
Robyn studied painting at the Art Student's League of New York, where she is currently a member. The artist studied with the late Andrew Lukach, William Scharf and with renowned classical painter, the late Richard Pionk.
Robyn Henzel had her first solo gallery show in NYC in December 2004.
