Can any plant this gorgeous actually be considered a weed? Even though I've looked at these interesting brilliant yellow tumble-weed plants all my life, I never really saw them until I photographed them. The contrast of the sun-drenched brilliant deep yellow branches against the red berry is beautiful. I've included a photo of what the entire plant-weed looks like.

I can truly say I risked my neck to take this photo. These interesting plants tumble along the highways of Michigan in the fall, and when we stopped our car on the shoulder and I ran across the drainage ditch to capture this beautiful plant creature, I stepped in a bramble and my ankle still has the scars. :)

Fall color in Michigan is amazing. You want to reach out and grab that color and never let it go - brilliant reds, gorgeous sun-soaked yellow, every shade of brown and gold you can imagine, along with bright orange and velvet blacks. That color is what sustains us hardy Michigan souls through our monochromatic winters of shades of blues, blacks and grays.

This photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera set on macro.
