Hearts in four direction is hand painted on a native American two sided 22" rauw hide hand drum with acrylic airbrush fabric paints, round sable brushes and heat treated to make it permanent. One of the reasons I use airbrush paint is for it's finer texture/structure and flexibility on leather, the paint sinks into the leather as it were and takes on many of it's characteristics, that I have found better suited to leather then the conventional acrylic paints. the animal portraits chosen was for a number of reasons some of which are the four seasons, night and day and they were four of the animal totems of a friend through whose eyes have opened mine to new views and learnings. The back side of the drum depicts the tracks of the wolf and leopard and two primary feathers of the eagle and owl that is ever present in my art. hope you enjoy Hearts in four direction, thank you for viewing.
