Hughes Water Gardens (in Tualatin, OR) is one of my favorite locations to get inspiration to paint. This pond has so much life in it and it carries many moods of the Oregon sky. In this painting I wanted to communicate the "wetness" of the water. The small vegetation afloat, calm ripples on the surface, undulating reflections of the trees, and the mild movement of the koi all create the sensation of deep calm water.
