Brenda Boylan is a Pacific Northwest Artist admired for her soft, impressionistic, and peaceful waterscape and floral themes. Though she has worked with many mediums, she now prefers pastels because they are in her works, "so instant and gratifying". Her technique varies from a tight and realistic hand to a playful, loose brushstroke. At times she crops just enough of a subject to encourage the viewer to examine the small idiosyncrasies the subject offers, leaving the viewer to wonder what goes on beyond its' borders.
A creator from an early age, Brenda completed her first commissioned portrait painting at age 12. After earning a BS in Applied Art and Design at Cal Poly, she worked as a graphic designer in the Sports Apparel industry for more than a decade. Eventually, desiring a life with more artistic freedom and a family, she moved into her own studio and for the last ten years has divided her time between painting professionally and taking care of her children.
Locally, Brenda participates in juried shows in the Portland area, holds membership with the Beaverton Arts Commission and a Portland Open Studios participant. Her work appears in many private collections and can be viewed at www.brendaboylan.com
