.Artist's Statement
Artist's StatementARTIST’S DECLARATION:
I have been compelled, all my life, to draw, paint and create. It is my driving force and has influenced every aspect of my life and my being. Having said that I have to wonder what life would have been like had I been "normal". By normal I mean a non-artist.
What if I had never wanted to paint? Why then I might have been able to advance in the workplace, put something by for a rainy day, for my retirement. My employers would have been happier because I would have been able to concentrate on my job, instead of “wandering off in my mind” visualizing paintings. I would have made fewer mistakes in business and in life! Many times I prayed for creative block - it never came.
WOULD I HAVE CHANGED ANYTHING? Probably not. Now that I am older, retired and on social security I am finally happy. I get to paint every day. In fact that’s all I can afford to do on social security.
BUT - IT IS SUFFICIENT!
AMEN!
*****
My work is represented in collections worldwide (Canada, the U.S., Japan, Australia, France, England, Belgium, Israel, Singapore and more) including the executive offices of the California State University at Long Beach. I have taught art to children at risk through the Long Beach Children's Museum and graduated from the Coastline College Fine Arts Program.
