Beth's piece

Media:  watercolor and chinese ink on watercolor canvas
Dimensions:  16x20
Date of Work:  07/2008

For the Ripped Off show 2008, this is my rip of Elizabeth's Fiedel's glorious work, "Gathering Feathers", one of my favorite pieces of hers. But of course I had to change it to incorporate one of my cats, in this case, Cassady, who rests quietly on his blanket watching the feathers float downward, perhaps poised to nab one when it gets closer. I tried to convey the dreamy quality of Beth's work, and so I chose to do my piece in watercolor and used some loose chinese brushwork as well. Beth's piece has such a lovely color scheme, which I reflected in Cassady's blanket. Despite Cassady's peaceful expression and innocent demeanor, the question remains.....what happened to the bird??
